Coldwater Gardens

Longleaf pine once covered over 90 million acres of land across the United States. Due to logging, that number has plummeted to 4 million acres and is now endangered. Longleaf pine is a keystone species that provides habitat to over 600 plant and animal species including the endangered red cockaded woodpecker, gopher tortoise, gopher frog, and eastern indigo snake.

Reboot Reforestation partnered with Coldwater Gardens to reforest 50 acres of endangered longleaf pine in Florida since the winter of 2020. We planted 50,000 seedballs. Coldwater Gardens formerly was a loblolly pine plantation which has been clear cut and repopulated with native longleaf pine. The long term goal is to provide sanctuary to endangered gopher tortoise, gopher frog, red cockaded woodpecker, and eastern indigo snake.

Burgess Vineyards

Western monarch butterflies’ population has plummeted by 90% over the past 30 years due to land conversion, drought, and pesticide use. Reboot Reforestation partnered with Burgess Vineyards and Rainforest Rising to plant cover crops to prevent erosion and foster endangered monarch butterflies in California. The long term goal is to stabilize the soil and to provide pollinator habitat. We are proud to report the western monarch population has rebounded to 200,000 individuals from a measly 2,000 as of 2021.

Hickory Creek Farm

Hickory Creek Farm and Reboot Reforestation partnered together to plant 10,000 longleaf pine seedballs across 10 acres of property to re-establish longleaf pine savanna in Mississippi in the winter of 2021. The long term goal is to re-establish longleaf pine savanna and provide sanctuary to endangered gopher tortoise, gopher frog, red cockaded woodpecker, and eastern indigo snake.

Private Landowners

Reboot Reforestation has conducted longleaf pine restoration for private land owners wishing to restore native beauty and biodiversity to the Southeast.
